Yellowstone Lodging

We have 4 days to do Yellowstone and Grand Tetons. I am having no luck in getting rooms in Yellowstone Park. Where would be the best place outside the parks to stay? We will be coming from Billings. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks Myra

You will find many hotels in West Yellowstone just outsde the park.

West Yellowstone is very tourista. If you drive through the North Entrance (which I assume you will, coming from Billings) you will pass through the town of Gardiner, MT. I've always liked Gardiner, since it's more just a small hole in the wall. The road from Gardiner to Mammoth Hot Springs is roughly 4 or 5 miles.

We stayed at the Best Western in Gardiner for five days in 2001. It was fine and the bar and restaurant on the premises were good. Nice food, pleasant friendly service. Pay the few extra dollars for a superior room with jacquizi; they are much nicer and at the quiet end of the property, away from the road.

I'd keep trying for Yellowstone. They get cancellations often.
