Yellowstone Firehole River or Boiling River for Swim
Is the best place for swimming in the firehole river swim area or Boiling River Swim area. Which one is the warmest would be my biggest question.

Hi spirobulldog,
When you get to the park, make sure that the Boiling River Swim area is open. It's usually closed till mid-summer because of high water. http://www.nps.gov/yell/planyourvisit/nmammoth.htm I was really dissappointed a couple years ago when we were there in early June and it was closed. Utahtea |
Boiling River remains one of the greatest things I have ever done on vacation. It can get as warm as you want - it is a "V" merge between hot spring and Gardner River, partially walled off by rocks to mediate the current of the River. The closer you get to the hot spring side, the warmer it is - it was possible to get warmer or cooler just by leaning ones body in one direction or another. Can't compare to firehole area - do not even know where that is.

Does anyone have any thoughts on driving a 25ft RV through Yellowsone?

Utahtea,
Oh darn, I am going to be disappointed as well. I bet you it is closed. I will email or call and find out. I am thinking that the boiling river is probably warmer than the firehole swim area. I have seen them both on the travel channel and read about them in books. |
Well the Beartooth is still closed today. I am crossing my fingers that it will be opened by next Friday.
