Yellowstone and The Grand Tetons

My Husband, myself and 11 year old daughters are planning a trip to Yellowstone. We fly into Jackson Hole on the 6th of July and will be there till the 12th, I am trying to figure out where to stay in Yellowstone and for how long as well as Jackson Hole. Should we stay in the parks or not. Also, we would like to have a cabin, fireplace and a great view, but would also like the amenities we can get at a nicer resort. Please help with any suggestions with either leg of this trip.

My advice is to stay either at Jackson Lake Lodge or Jenny Lake Lodge in the Tetons and at Old Faithful Inn in Yellowstone. You can Google for tons of information and do a search here for info on all the parks lodging. You know what they say, location, location, location!

cd took the words right out of my mouth. I wouldn't stay in Jackson with the time you've got. We've spent a week at Jackson Lake Lodge and another time a week at Jenny Lake Lodge and thought it worked out really well. Love both places but Jenny Lake was really special. Easy to do day trips around the Tetons and Yellowstone.

And I'd suggest you call asap if you're talking about THIS summer. In the park lodging fills up very fast.

I'd call and find out if you can get in on any cancellations in Yellowstone. Try Old Faithful area first then Canyon or Lake. If you can't get inside Yellowstone, then try lodging in West Yellowstone for the best centrally located spot outside the park.

I know there will be others that disagree with me, but I would spend 2/3 of the time in Yellowstone and 1/3 at Grand Tetons.

Forgive me Joppolo for highjacking your thread but I wanted Utahtea's advice because she is an expert on Utah. Thanks. Utahtea, I know you camp but can you recommend any clean budget motels for Lake Powell (we want to take a boat to Rainbow Bridge) Zion, Bryce,Arches,Canyonland, Grand Canyon? If gas prices go down by Sept, we would like to visit these areas. We are retired so we have more time than money. :-)

cd,

Glad to hear you are coming to my favorite places. I'm really sorry, but it's been well over 30 years since we stayed in a motel in these areas! I would have no idea...now if you decide to camp....I'm your gal ;)

My oppologies to Joppolo too!
