Hoover Dam half-day tour

Hi there,

I'm thinking of booking a half-day Hoover Dam tour from Vegas (in-lieu of sitting with my friends by a hotel pool...boring!) and was wondering if anyone had any tour company recommendations. I've gone through TA and checked out some reviews but figured I'll try to ask the trusty Fodors Community for their input. Tours under $100 are what I'm looking for. Nothing fancy but reliable. Just need to get to the Dam, check it out, and get me back to Vegas before dinner.

Much thanks.

It's not a bad drive if you just wanted to rent a car.
Good parking structure at the dam and you could park at another lot and walk across the bridge. Spectacular!

Since 9/11, the dam self-guided tours have been really restricted. It's still more than worth seeing.

You can rent a car and drive there for much less than $100 if you want to. And there is a fun diner in Boulder City (look on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives) for lunch along the way, and then you could also drive through Valley of Fire. I'm sure there are tours that do this as well, but I like doing it at my own pace.
