yellowstone and grand Tetons trip report

Sister and I returned a couple of days ago from our trip. It was great. lots of rain but that didn't stop us. Saw lots of elk and bison , some with babies. also big horns, herds of deer pronghorns and a big grizzly as well as several moose. We did't make it to Lamar Valley due to a big storm when we were on our way so we didn't see any wolves. Rivers were running very fast and full, so waterfalls were especially beautiful, but several meadows were flooded and some smaller in-park roads were closed.

Brunch at Lake hotel was very good as were the lunches we ate at OF Inn. We also enjoyed the pizza and salad at the marina at Jackson Lake.

We stayed 2nights each in cabins at West Yellowstone and Gardner, and Motel 6 in Jackson. Enjoyed all three towns and what they offered. Planned our itinerary to focus on the park areas around those towns. Instead of staying in Cody we opted to stay in
valley west of town. Good decision. It was a great trip with my best friend.

All in all, a wonderful trip with my best friend.

I didn't know they did a brunch at LH. Where did you see your moose and griz at? We didn't see any wolves when we were there either. I think they are easier to spot in winter. Sounds like you had a good time.

First moose mama and baby were just outside the east gate of YS. Quite a traffic jam. Saw four along Moose Wilson Road in Grand Tetons. Grizzly was just north of
biscuit Basin inYS.

Lucky you :) Ive never seen a Grizzy Bear but have seen lots of Black Bears in The Great Smoky Mountains in East TN. It's an amazing sight to see.

Do you have the contact information for the cabins that you stayed at in Gardner and West Yellowstone? We are planning a trip for this September, 2011,and haven't reserved anything yet.

Check the Internet for Gardner Hillcrest Cottages. We had a 3 bed motel room eith 2 burner stove, small fridge, table and chairs. Not fancy, but clean. Walk to downtown.Deer next door eating dinner. Free wifi

In West, we were at Alpine Motel. Nice little cabin, owners do everything themselves, right in town.
They have a web site. Free wifi.
Check trip advisor for both.

Does anyone have suggestions for photographing the wildlife in Yellowstone in September? I would also like to get some pictures of some of the colorful pools, and geyers. Best times of day, etc. Thanks!
