Yellowstone & Grand Tetons

I have a trip planned in September with my husband and sister/brother in laws. We are driving from MN to Yellowstone and the Grand Tetons. My husband and brother in law are really into landscape pictures so it's mainly a trip for them to explore and take some great pictures. We are debating how many days to spend at each park. We have 5 FULL days between the two parks. Should we spend more time in Grand Teton or Yellowstone?

I would take 3 days in Yellowstone considering the vastness of the park.Paul

Agree. 2 days GTNP - driving to Yellowstone on the 2nd day. Ideally stay in 2 different places in YNP - especially so you can catch landscapes in different light of sunrise/sunset.

Do not do what some yahoo did a week ago - tried to photo a bison close-up, a member of her group thru an object at the bison to get it to turn and face the camera, bison got ticked off, bison charged, woman got hurt - lucky she is alive.

I agree with tovarich....and for the reason stated. Many here will recommend much less time in the Teton. However, they forget (or aren't aware of) just how magnificent a photographic subject the Teton is. I say this as one serious photographer to another.
I might add that I predict the two photographers will find five days as a tease and will want to come back!

PS: September is a glorious month to visit the area, with the aspens turning a magnificent yellow.

As much as I love GTNP, the vastness and variety of landscape photo ops in Yellowstone dictate more time there, in particular because you'll be there in the high country fall

I'm going next week for a week.

We'll be spending 5 days in Yellowstone (2 around Old Faithful area and 3 in Canyon area).

Then we'll be spending 2 days at GTNP staying at Signal Mtn.

When I get back I'll let you know what I did right and what I did wrong. I'm into photography as well.

I agree with the 2/3 split, but also agree that the Tetons are a photographer's dream.
