Yellowstone, advice please
 

I am struggling with planning for our upcoming trip to Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Park and any advice would be welcome.
Currently, I have reservations in West Yellowstone on June 8,9 and then Canyon room on June 10th, I have a ressie on June 11th in Cooke City as I have been unable to get inside the park on this day. Then on the 12th we have the Roosevelt campout and reservations for roughrider cabins (just a place to sleep after the campout). On the 13th and 14 all I could get was Grant and we will be leaving on the 15th for GTNP and staying until 18th. We would like to do Beartooth but I am not sure where to fit this in, either on the 11th then check in Cooke City or on 12th before going to Roosevelt. We also want to go to Lamar valley one morning which confuses me more on the best way to do Beartooth without skipping Lamar in the AM. Would I be better not to stay in W. Yellowstone on the 9 and stay two days in Canyon instead (9th and 10th), would staying in Lake on 13th and Grant on 14th be a better plan? Any touring advice would be welcome. Thanks.,

I don't have time to read you entire post (later) but don't give up on inpark.

People book a year ahead. That's the bad. The good is that many book and then realize they can't make the trip.

Call Xanterra every day and then twice a day. Eventually you'll get your reservations from cancellations.

Just make sure that when people cancel you're always the one calling next. Call, Call, CALLLLLL!!!!

My view of the parks. YNP is more of an event park and GTNP is more of a scenery park. Both great!!!!

You have time to do the Beartooth(provided it is indeed open-I'm not sure how much snow they've had yet this year).

I would do it before checking in on the 11th. Then get up on the 12th and do Lamar on your way to Roosevelt.

Sounds like a nice trip to me. Do keep calling as Myer suggests, but at least you have a few nights in the park.

You are there for a long enough time to be able to do everything and include some hikes, etc too. Have a great trip.

The entire Beartooth Highway, including higher eleveations at Beartooth Pass ,is currently scheduled to open Friday, June 14, 2013. Portions of the Beartooth Highway will open earlier as snow plowing is completed.

You will be driving through the Lamar Valley as you go from the park to Cooke city and again on your way back to Roosevelt.
