Yeah for Fodors! Back to Travel!

No reply necessary. Just glad to see Fodors get rid of the junk that is posted on this site that is supposed to be used for travel!

I have yet to see where most of the subjects on this post do not pertain to travel. One post discussed security at airports. Well, travel includes showing up at an airport. Also, since the terrorism took place on an AIRPLANE - if someone wants to talk about this - it DOES pertain to traveling. DUH!!!!

How ironic, teh, that your post has nothing to do with travel.

teh, you better get down off that soapbox before you slip and hurt yourself.

Message: Yes, it's Fodor's right to do what they want. Except I alway thought the point of a Web site was to INCREASE traffic, not discourage it. My attitude about obnoxious posts is that if I don't like 'em, I don't read 'em. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to be able to tell pretty quickly when a post (or thread) is getting weird.

There are risks to holding a public forum on the Web, and censorship certainly won't remove the risks OR encourage more traffic for a site. If Fodor's can't live with the risk, they can always drop the forum or post a notice: THIS FORUM IS ONLY FOR THOSE WHO SENSIBILITIES ARE OFFENDED BY A STRAY WORD OR COMMENT. (Hey, that sounds like the Taliban.) And don't tell me you can't waste your precious time getting past offensive posts. If your time were so precious, you wouldn't be wasting it by reading this.

Let's devote a post to those airheads who think they have to capitalize their words when trying to make a point!

No, the point of a website is not to encourage traffic. It is to provide some kind of relevant content. And most of the drivel and/or hate-mongering that Fodors has deleted is not relevant to a site intended as a place for travellers to advice directly related to travel. If you owned a website (and had a reputation, let alone commercial interests) to preserve, would you let every jerk with spare time use it as a forum for any old thing they wanted to say?

Travel is neither sanitary or totally benign..and this travel board is at its best when it reflects that. The travel industry is suffering terribly and will get worst because according to experts, there is a 100% chance of a major disastrous attack in the near future. This board has done a great service so far in encouraging people to keep traveling. Some of the posters who do this also post the absurd, the foolish, and the wicked posts too..just under different names.
