Yappy hour at the Liberty Hotel, Boston
I had been putting off taking Pastis to the Yappy Hour, due to a foot injury. Feeling ok to walk normally but still one toe swollen, we took the subway to the Liberty which was formally our Charles street Jail that sits across the Charles on lower Beacon Hill.
I was maybe one of thee of persons who were single, lots of young woman in groups and couples. Our dogs were served MUTT-tini's, a kind of beef broth and some snacks. There was a cash bar and light dishes you could order. There are couches and stuffed chairs to sit on, if not reserved.. I was at a stand up table with no chair til a party left one of the couch areas that aI shared with two other people. These are a hose down fabric covering the furniture. cocktail tables are various colored plastic hourglass shaped. A big mistake for when the big dogs came rushing through they would knock down the tables and glasses would get broken. There were at least 50 dogs there when I left. Pastis had a fantastic time. Came home exhausted after chasing/playing with so many dogs. |
Sounds like a lot of fun! Next time my friends from NY are in town with their dog, I'll take them there!

Glad that you and your baby, Pastis had fun. Fun place to have drinks. Wish more places offered this kind of thing with your beloved dogs. |
Thanks for the information. I'm going to have to try this some Wednesday night.

Well, aren't I dense. I could not get the hang of this thread to save my life until I got to the MUTT-ini part. I was thinking Pastis was some awfully named human girlfriend, who was a bit of a dog. Good name, btw, for a dog. Kind of weeny, however, for a human.
So, please explain to me, the girl who brought both her dog and cat to France to live so many years ago. Is this just a Boston thing, or has it hit the left coast as yet?!? And how do they deal with frisky dogs? I could keep one of mine sitting quietly, albeit apprehensively. The other, however, is a real party girl. |
Huh? not familiar with her, Surfgirl. Once in a WHILE SOME DOG MAY ATTACK ANOTHER BUT PEOPLE SOON SEPERATE THEM
Pastis usually will stand aside and watch the commotion. One dog was so small he could fit on my hand(mimi has large hands) And that was being held by a man! The largest dog was the size of a pony, so watching all these breeds and sizes was facinating to me even though I was alone. I'm at hotmail if anyone wants to join me. Not on a rain day when it is cancelled |
