Hi All:
Our family is coming to NYC for 5 nights and are felt impelled to go to a Yankees game. I had no idea how expensive decent tickets are. Any suggestions on getting tickets for Fri June 8th game? Thanks

Go to mlb.com and then click on the spot for the Yankees and then the schedule. It will tell you everything you want to know about prices. There is also a spot to see if there are any promotions that night like cap night or fireworks.

I am not sure what you are asking - you say you had no idea how expensive tickets are. If you are looking for source of discounted tickets, I seriously doubt such a place exists.

If you're looking for an inexpensive option, you might consider the bleacher seats. They are as far away from home plate as you can get, but there's something fun about sitting behind the outfield.

It doesn't look like any bleacher seats are available on Yankees.com, but there are some on StubHub. They usually cost $12, so the markup on StubHub isn't bad.

You might check out craigslist, too. That's where I have gotten tickets.

If youre asking for discounted Yankees tickets there is no such thing - they sell out almost every game. And for the one you're looking at bleachers are sold out.

If you want decent seats - most are either seson tickets or ticket plans - and never available for one game only.

If you want you can check ebay - and sometimes get good seats at not too much of a premium. Stubhub is a scalper that's often a little less than some of the others.

As for being expensive - when a movie is $11 and Broadway show top seats over $100 - Yankee tickets seem in line with other entertainment options.

Excuse me NYtraveler but when did tickets to a baseball game become worth more than a Broadway show!? Decent tickets, that you must purchase through an agent are over $100 each! I guess if you are comparing the bleachers to a movie and Broadway show. In my research the tickets can only be bought through an agent. I started looking 3 months ago on mlb.com and the yankees site everything was gone except bleachers. You must put a high ranking on baseball!!

It's a question of supply and market demand. The Yankees fill up the stadium nearly every night, even mid week games (or at least they sell out nearly the tickets).

A Friday night game is always even more popular.

nyt has given you excellent advice - if you want tickets to the game, expect to pay about $100 for decent tickets from a 3rd party broker. I use stubhub.com and have always been satisfied.

In my opinion decent means lower level anywhere, mid/loge level anything inside of 1st/3rd base. I would not pay less for upper deck tickets as I don't like them. Too high, too far away, and too steep. Just my opinion of what is 'decent'

If you've priced decent tickets to a top Broadway show you'll also find that $100 doesn't get you much there either, at least not in terms of decent seats at a top show.

So is your point just that you find the price of baseball tickets unreasonable? Frankly, baseball tickets have gotten pricy in many cities. It's just a fact of life that demand will drive up price if supply is limited!

If you want a more intimate setting with a spectacular view on Manhattan at night, get reasonably priced tickets to see the Staten Island Yankees -- their single A farm team.

Take the Staten Island Ferry over, watch the game with enthusiastic fans, have typical baseball food [with lots of sushi too], watch the sunset and the lights come on in the city.

Sorry, it doesn't look like they are playing until mid June.

I just went to the Yankees website and there are tickets available to the game you want to see in several different price ranges. If you call Ticketmaster, you can get single tickets in the $60-$70 price range. They will be single tickets but you can get them fairly close to each other, and as the game progresses, you can probably find seats together.

Yankee games are always fun, and get there early to see Memorial Park.

The answer to the question of why are Yankee tickets comparable to a Broadway show is simple - because the demand allows it to be.

Last year, the Yankees drew 4.2mm fans which is a record for them. The prior year they drew just a bit over 4mm. Prices went up last year with obviously little impact.

I do heartily agree that they've priced out the average fan. But, then again, so have the Knicks, Rangers, Jets and Giants.

BTW, agree on the Monument Park suggestion.

Well - it all depends on how much you enjoy baseball. I'm perfectly wiling to pay the same - or more - for Yankees tickets as I do for a play - since I've been a fan since I was 5. I love the game and I loe the team. And luckily the beau shares my taste in baseball (although not necessarily other things - he's not a big ballet fan. And talk about ticket prices there!)

Granted we don;t have the free time to do either one a lot - and see perhaps 6/7 shows per year - and 6/7 Yankee games. And to me the Yankee games (esp versus the Red Sox) are just as enjoyable as the play - and worth just as much.

And frankly - for an evening out $100 per person really isn;t that much - you can easily spend more than that for dinner alone - never mind a show or a game.

And what does it cost to go to dinner and a movie - which I think anyone will agree 99% of the time isn;t nearly as enjoyable as the show OR the game. As for pricing out the average fan - bleacher seats and a hot dog would be far preferable to a mediocre movie and chain restaurat dinner to any real fan.

This may come as a shock, but some people like sports better than theater. No, really! There's actually this big sporting event each year called the "Super Bowl," and tickets can go for thousands of dollars!

Sorry for the sarcasm, but I don't understand the outrage at nytraveler's suggestion that a baseball game is in the same ballpark (haha!) as a Broadway show. I personally would pick Broadway over baseball any day, but I know some sports fans who'd strongly disagree.

I strive to incorporate a baseball experience into most trips within the US. I've visited 3 parks in the last 3 weeks.
However, I am not a Yankees fan and would rather spend my retirement on swampland in Florida than drop a couple "hun" on seats to watch "The Bombers". I agree that Broadway- any show on Broadway- would be a better investment of time and money than a night in The Bronx.
I love theatre and I love baseball, but those that compare a Yankees game to theatre are far too engaged in their admiration.
I will never overdose on baseball- even with 4860 games per season, plus the playoffs- but one Yankees victory induces the gag reflex.
Take the family out for a nice dinner instead.

Huh, what?, see the Yankees? The OP is probably more interested in going to see the Pirates play at Yankee Stadium. Probably the first NYY home game they've played since the Bucs won the Series is 1960.

Single seats are available at field level. You might be able to get a couple that are back to back.

The next day, June 9th, the Belmont Stakes - the third leg of the horse racing Triple Crown - will be held at Belmont Park on Long Island. Train goes right to the track.

Well naturally paying $100 for a Yankees game doesn't make sense to you if you're not a fan. In that case -why even comment?

That's like me saying that they should pay me $100 to go to a monster truck event - which I would hate. That has nothiing to do with the cost/value of the event - but just my likes and dislikes.
