Yahoo! a week away!Off to MB!

5 of us are going to Myrtle Beach in three weeks(oct17-24), can anyone tell me if we should pack the sweater or swim suit,or both. We're staying at the Breakers Resort. Is this a nice resort?(we still have time to change the rez). We are thinking about renting a car and making the trip to Savanah. Are we crazy?(how far away is it?)Where is a nice stretch of beach just for laying out and soaking up sun?
Thanks in advance for your response. (P.S. we are leaving the kids home on this vacation.)

Hi,

I was in MB the same time two years ago.It was a little chilly for me to lay out in the sun, but plenty of people were doing just that. Many people had on shorts and sweat shirts to walk the beach. Sometimes you neede the sweat shirt and other times you did not. The beach is pretty , but the sand is very hard. I think this would not be comfortable for a long period of time and most were laying out by the pool. I was there working so I can't tell you much more. It was very relaxing even when working. Generally, the temps vary a lot in mid-Oct., but depending upon where you're coming from, most would consider Oct. weather on coastal SC to be quite nice.

It's about a 1-1/2 to 2 hr. drive to Charleston from mid Myrtle Beach and then almost 2 hrs. from Charleston to Savannah. Both towns are worthy of the effort.

Have fun....
Dear Carol and Sharon,
Thanks for the insight. We're from Milwaukee Wisconsin and right now it's 38 degrees. Anything warmer than that will be nice!:) I would like to ask one last question. Is the night real expensive?ie. cover charges, drink prices etc.
Are there some place that you think we should avoid? Thanks again.

The stuff in Myrtle Beach doesn't tend to be very expensive, for the most part.

However, if you do plan to go out and get your own booze to bring back to the condo, the liquor stores in SC are only open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. (and not at all on Sundays!). Beer and wine is sold in grocery stores--no time limits.

Enjoy.

PS: I was up in Myrtle Beach a few weeks ago and it was very hot, but this coming week is definitely going to be cooler (70s daytime).
