Xmas dinner in Half Moon Bay
We will be spending Christmas in Half Moon Bay. Can anyone recommend a nice restaurant to have Cristmas dinner at.
|
My vote would be for Pasta Moon. there are places on the H20 but they just are not as good.I would check to confirm they are open though... G

The dining room at the new Ritz Carlton might be having something nice. Or, if you wanted to drive a way, you could drive over the hill to Woodside and John Bentley's.
|
There's a Chart House up the coast a few miles in Montara Beach. It's one of my favorites. Great views and you can take a walk along the beach either before or after.
|
Don't know if these places are open on Christmas, but you might consider:
Mezza Luna in Princeton
Miramar Beach Inn in Miramar
San Benito House in HMB
Moss Beach Distillery in Moss Beach
The Mountain House on Kings Mtn. (Skyline Blvd./Hwy 35/way out there).

Moss Beach Distillery will probably have its traditional weekend brunch which is overpriced but a nice experience once. Again, up on Skyline Blvd in Woodside is Alice's Restaurant--a unique breakfast experience after a pretty drive through the redwoods on the way up from HMB on hwy 84. BTW, last week they had 20 foot waves at the surfing beach (Maverick) in HMB AND----the crab fisherman's strike is over--first of the crabs came in today! $3.99/lb retail. Fish Market in center of town sells cracked and cleaned crabs to go with red sauce. Then go down the road to Obester winery for a bottle of wine. Yum!
|
Kam, you're making me hungry! I think tomorrow we'll cut down our Christmas tree somewhere off the 92 and drive the extra few miles for some of that cracked crab!
|
Don't want to be the Grinch here, but I seriously doubt that any of the places you've named except the Ritz will be open on Christmas day.
|
Susan, let's hope that the price of crab will go down in the next couple weeks. Yum!!!

Kam, we bought crab last night for dinner and I made it my mother-in-law's way. Crack it up, melt butter in a roasting pan, add olive oil and lots of crushed garlic, toss the crab in and mix it up, roast at 350 for 20 minutes or so. When you start smelling the garlic all over the house it's ready. Spread newspapers on the table and serve with crusty sourdough bread to dunk in the sauce. Finger licking good!
