XC skiing in Traverse City
Hi,
My wife and I will be spending a week in Traverse City in February. We are interested in back country XC skiing. Any suggested ski trails or interesting snowmobile trails (to ski on) in the area? Does anyone know of a XC ski guide to the area trails?

Thanks.

Try this website on Michigan ski areas.

http://www.michiweb.com/ski/

Personally, I like the Boyne Highlands area near Petoskey, but that is north of
Traverse City.

Ginny, you may be a life saver!! I'm going to Boyne Highlands in two weeks ... flying into Traverse City. Where can I find a good meal near Boyne? And what are the interesting sites? It's business, but will have loads of free time ... whatever you can suggest would be most appreciated. HELP. Ciao

L-Here are some restaurants we have eaten in over the years which are pretty good.

Stafford Bay View Inn-Good brunch, rated one of the best by Michigan AAA.
Latitudes-Bay Harbor
City Park Grill
Terrace Inn
New York Restaurant-Harbor Springs.

We are going in either Jan. or Feb. for a long weekend to ski. Planning on getting my 3 1/2 year old on skis. Enjoy.

L-There are numerous parks throughout the area which have great views of the Bay and Lake. The Petoskey Gaslight District has antique shops, art galleries etc. Raven Hill Discovery Center has a hands on museum and there is a Victories Casino nearby if you want to try your luck. There is a place to ice skate indoors, but I can't remember the name. The area has a ton of outdoor activities, skiing, snowmobiling, golf courses, hiking, ice skating, sleigh rides, boating etc.

Forgot to mention the Perry Hotel isn't bad either in Petoskey for dining.
