Wyoming Airfare

Flying into Jackson Hole is so expensive from Houston, Tx. We don't mind driving some but should we fly into Billings, Mt. or somewhere else. I have not yet checked into the price to Billings.

My advice: Fly to Salt Lake City. The rental car will be cheaper there too. The trade off is a 5 hour 290 mile drive.
I hope that you have enough days to enjoy your trip including a few hours to see Salt Lake City.

We went from Dallas to SLC ---really good fare on Southwest...rented a car, nice drive...Worked out very well.

Agree about SLC. It's not far, and is a pretty drive. The others are just small markets and will be expensive.

I am FROM Wyo and definitely Salt Lake is a better option: more market competition means lower fares and you are going to want a car anyway.

Billings or Bozeman would work but SLC has more flights each day (usually, from most locations). A brother got flights into Billings for just $300 this summer.

Billings and SLC are almost equidistant from Jackson. Unless you fly through MSP you may very well have to fly into SLC anyway to get to Billings

We really don't want to change planes from Houston to SLC and Nonstops are over $600 a ticket. A ticket to Denver is only $285. We don't mind driving the 8 hours BUT how is the drive??

starrs Jun 2nd, 2012 12:01 PM

It's fine. It's a fairly boring drive across the plains - but probably more interesting than driving across Texas

We'll be flying into Denver and driving to Cody to start our trip in Yellowstone... not exactly the same, but similar and also 8 hours. We're planning on stopping half way in Casper, WY to eat and stock up on supplies at Sams, Walmart, and Target. OH and Starbucks. :)
