Have a favorite breakfast spot in Northern San Diego County?!

My boyfriend and I have offered to take his daughter and her boyfriend out to breakfast the day before Thanksgiving. They are flying in from out of state and I believe they are quite serious about one another... he may be "the one!" This will be our first time meeting him and we want great food and hopefully a nice view. ( to give them a nice treat and also to make it more of an occasion than "just breakfast.")

Anything in Del Mar or Carlsbad that might fit the bill? ( We're all staying in Encinitas and Vista with family and the boys have a golf game to play so we cant make it into a brunch or drive an hour each way.)

Any favorite places? I'm relying on you!

Check out Jake's in Del Mar. Met a friend for brunch there a couple of years ago and recall that the stuffed French toast was excellent. Also, great location, right on the beach.

I haven't eaten there for years (it was good), but it always seems to have a lot of cars outside when I drive by, is Pannikin in Encinitas, right on 101. No view however.

I LOVE and recommend Claire's on 246 Cedro Ave in Solana Beach near train station. It's LEED and organic. It's truly the best. It's extremely popular so get there early. Phone 858.259.8597.

Solana Beach and Encinitas are within a mile or so of each other.

Just read you want a view. It's further south (maybe 35 min.) But has a wonderful view. Either Brockton Villa looking out at scenic LA Jolla Cove (food is ok) or great ocean view and great food is Georges on Prospect Ave.

Thank you so so much!

I'm not usually super picky about a view because I live near the beach but the kids are coming from Texas so I just thought it might be nice for them!

I will check these out!

If you decide to go here, I would recommend only dining at the top tier (which is a rooftop - overlooking the ocean) - it is a little less pricey and much nicer in my opinion. I would not eat there after 5:00 pm as it will dark and you won't have a view!

Takes the meaning of "solicitation" to a whole new level.

Yes, George's, while fantastic, does lunch and dinner.

The Brockton Villa has a similar view and does breakfast.

The Cottage in La Jolla best food I'd say, although no view. Check SD restaurant ratings on TA, they place very high and would agree. Forget Pannikin, love to get coffee there, but it's self-serve and right on the 101 and busy w/ cyclists always. Daily News Café in 'downtown' Carlsbad is good, but nothing special, but it's 1/2 block off the lovely bluff walk along the ocean. On your own, go to Cardiff's "The Pipe," sister restaurant to Kono's in PB, but strictly casual, very cheap and very generous. Also in Encinitas in the Lumberyard is the French Bakery Café, but again, it's stand-for-serve and has no view. Jakes is a longtime favorite but didn't think they were open for breakfast. Café Pacifica in Del Mar has great views & food, but again, breakfast not sure. Check Pacific Coast Grill & Beach House on the 101 in Cardiff/Encinitas just south of Swami, they serve lunch right on the water but again, breakfast?

Great ideas for restaurants aliced! I'm copying and keeping for future use - I'm familiar with La Jolla/PB but not the No.County (except for Claire's on Cedros, which I love). I really like Kono's in P.B. and didn't know they had a sister restaurant either.

I would highly recommend The Cottage (breakfast & lunch) they don't have a view but their food is reasonably priced and very good. You can easily walk down the street about half a mile to park (maybe a 10 minute or less walk) at the La Jolla Cove for a great ocean view. The waiters can give directions.
