Wyndham Atlanta Vinings

Has anyone stayed at this hotel before? How are the amenities for a 5 yr old and a 2 yr old? How far from Georgia Dome/Phillips Arena? Does anyone know a "back way" to get to these sites with a minimum of traffic headaches?

GoTravel Dec 14th, 2004 08:50 AM

craig, the Wyndham Midtown would be a lot closer to the Georgia Dome.

Best way to avoid traffic would be to ride the Metro. I'm not kidding.

craigdontia Dec 14th, 2004 08:59 AM

wyndham midtown is already booked for the time frame that I will be there.

mea culpa if that is the case but I find your wording disturbing and you have never before posted. Also, a travel forum would not be my source of choice for such important information.

Common sense dictates that since your MIL is no longer in Italy, who picks up the bill for her healthcare in Italy, and in the US and something goes wrong, your mother in law would be responsible for her healthcare.

The Italian government certainly isn't going to send a check.

I highly suggest she purchase healthcare for her trip abroad.

Out of curiosity, what has your MIL done in past instances? I doubt this is her first time out of Italy.

craig...is there a reason you are staying at the Wyndham Atlanta Vinings and needing to get to the Georgia Dome?
I have noticed recently that the Omni is coming up on priceline a lot lately.

GoTravel...whatever in the world are you speaking of? Sounds Italian to me.

icee, this was the response I wrote to Mammamia on the "Insurance/MIL Italy Who Pays" post that ended up on this thread. I'm too lazy to repost it on the other thread.

I am going for a convention in August. It is a fairly large convention, taking up all the available rooms in the adjacent areas. This was the closest (nicer?) hotel I could find to the event that was sub $100 a night....is there something wrong with it?

Go Travel-why would you find my wording 'disturbing'?

GoTravel Dec 16th, 2004 08:57 AM

craig, my second post on this thread was a reply to another post but somehow ended up on this thread. Please ignore the post.

My family of four stayed there several years ago. It was OK. Nothing super. But the rate included a buffet breakfast that was much better than I expected! (And I'm not a 'breakfast person')!:)OSB.

Vinings is waayy far away from the downtown area. Especially with Atlanta traffic. It could take you an hour or so. After living in Atlanta for three years, I discovered that there aren't really any convenient back routes, there's just too much traffic. Vinings, however, is a charming community with shopping and dining. For little ones, Centennial Park is a must. The zoo in Grant's Park is great, as is Piedmont Park and the botanical gardens there. Let's see, Stone Mountain is most entertaining if you aren't too bothered by the in-your-face Confederate stuff. They have a kids' amusement park, putt-putt, recreations of plantations, live animals, and it's a nice hike up to the top. Oh, and if MARTA goes to any of the sites you're considering visiting, definitely take it. Much faster than driving. Have fun!
