Wwinery Recommendations for the Hood River area?

Hi Fodorites,

I'm really looking forward to my first trip to Oregon in August! Part of the trip will be a few days in Hood River. I understand the wineries in the area are known for reds, and I LOVE big reds. Any recommendations for tasing?

Mille grazie!

Good choice on a trip to Oregon!

The Hood River area wineries are all pretty close together. You could hit them all. However, there are many more nearby. I suggest checking out a wine tour like this: http://www.hoodrivertours.com/winetours.htm

LittleA,

Advertising is NOT allowed here - and I don't do tours.

Anyone with some recommendations? Thanks ever so much!

Didn't think LittleA was advertising, simply making suggestion. That said....

The few I've been to are on the WA side of the river. Columbia Crest and Kestrel-loved their Cab- are the only names I recall since has been a couple of years. Look around Prosser. Benton City and the tri-cities area. I recall seeing as sign for Hood River Vineyards, but did not visit.

Why do you think Little A is posting an advertisement?
I hope you won't think ill of me for this link: http://www.columbiagorgewine.com

LittleA,

I do sincerely apologize for saying you wre advertising! After I posted, I did note that you have posted here before.

I probably wouldn't be interested in a tour, but I will check out the recommendations from you all.

Thanks!

If you're still reading, Dayle.... My picks in the Hood River area are mostly in WA: Maryhill, COR, and Syncline. On the OR side, I think Marchesi is making the best wine.
