Wow. Four perfect flights last weekend.
With all the griping a lot of us do (myself included) just thought I'd pass on this upper.
Last Tuesday we flew Ft. Lauderdale to Los Angeles, then Los Angeles to Reno. On Saturday we flew Reno to Dallas, and Dallas to Ft. Lauderdale.
All four American Airline flights left the gates early (2 to 10 minutes).
All four flights arrived early (3 to 24 minutes).
Both our check-ins took less than 10 minutes.
We had no real lines in security, and the security people all seemed pleasant and efficient.
On two flights we had 2 seat configuration --which is sure nice now that American has expanded the leg room.
On both other flights we were booked for aisle and window seats of three seat rows. On one the middle seat remained empty, so we had lots of room.
On the other, upon check-in, the attendant asked us if we wanted the two seat exit row and we grabbed at it for lots of room.
I can't remember the last time that flying was so uneventful and so pleasant.

Wow is right. Were the moons perfectly aligned or something?

Go play the lottery, Pat. Now.

I flew 5 flights on Southwest last week. All left on time and arrived on time.
On almost every flight my seat was dirty and the planes looked like old Motel 6 rooms last thoroughly cleaned 10 years ago.

The woman next to me on my first flight vomited all over herself half way through the trip. That smelled yummy and was even better to look at.
Her travelling companion was explaining to her about what 'stewardesses' do, how not to use the 'call button' because they'll yell at you, because they yelled at her once, so never again.

Group of 5 drunk guys on one plane yelling and cackling and insulting one another reminded me of a biker bar.

Boarding and debarking was certainly no faster than UA or AA.

I'll gladly pay an extra $100 to avoid the 'bus depot of the air' again.

Out of the past 15 or so flights I've been on in the past several months, all but one has been on time. The late one was due to weather.

I flew on American Airlines to Las Vegas and back last weekend and also had a perfect flight. I do love the extra leg room on American....maybe the airlines are getting their act together! I'm 2 for 2 and you're 4 for 4...GREAT

There are probably more flights on time now because they've cancelled so many due to declining number of passengers since 9/11. Now that the airlines aren't trying to schedule some ludicrous number of flights taking off and landing at the same time, things have gotten better.
|
I've flown close to a dozen times on American this past year and had consistently good experiences. I keepo saying I'll go Continental instead because they have more non-stops from my area (Newark) but the added legroom makes a HUGE difference on a flight of more than two hours.

Flew 4 flights on United this weekend. They gave me food, which helped since I was starving. Radio headset which helped pass the time on the runway. Had to switch planes because of mechical problems and another flight was delayed almost 1 hour due to mechanical problems. Glad they caught it. Didn't get good feeling when the pilots said they were able to make up for the delay by going "as fast as safely possible" We left 45 minutes late but arrived on time.. I really don't want to be on a speeding plane.

We arrived safely.

I hung around the Cincinatti airport for 4 hours in exchange for a $500 voucher. Got to my destination a few hours late and enough $$$ for 2 more tickets. Whooppeeeeeeee!!!!!!!

This one is for AB. Your United pilots were trying to be polite and courteous by going as fast as they possibly can through our skies. They weren't trying to get you hurt. Remember, they have families to head to at the end of their trips, too. My husband is a 767 pilot for United. Because I know pilots so well, I can tell you that you should be grateful that your crew tried to make a bad incident better. Arent' you glad that you weren't majorly late? From what I hear and from what I've experienced, I'd much rather be on time or early!

I believe I've just heard the ultimate whine. AB's plane left 45 minutes late, was able to make up the time in the air and he landed on time - This is comething to complain about????

I love when that happens. You get all nervous because the plane takes-off late, so you might miss your connection and viola (or Wah-la :>), you arrive on time. Love it.

ab, they don't give speeding tickets in the air, excessive speed hasn't been shown to be hazardous way up in the sky.
