Would you go to San Francisco Now?

Considering yesterday's earthquake, would next week be a prudent time to vacation in San Francisco?

4th Generation Californian: We're used to quakes...it'll be fine. Ignore it....San Francisco isn't a disaster area. I think it was a "5" on the Richter Scale. A 7 is one to worry about if you are at epicenter.

Due to the fact that earthquakes are caused by stress on a fault, and an earthquake releases the stress, after an earthquake should be one of the safer times. But like the previous poster said, a 5.0 is nothing! Don't worry.

Native Californian

As good as any...

I was sitting in a conference room waiting for a meeting to start and didn't even feel it. As an earlier poster said, a 5 really isn't much.

An earthquake monitoring centre in Glasgow has said we are in for a decade of increased Siesmic activity across the planet.

Would I visit San Francisco now. Definitely not. I would wait until October for the best weather. And anyways, I live here so I don't have a choice. Actually I do have a choice and I choose to live here as it is the best. In all seriousness, I was in the San Jose area ( 45 miles south ) and wasn't even aware that there had been an earthquake.

That earthquake didn't do any noticable damage, there was no disaster, it was nothing. I was in North Berkeley when it happened, and all it did was shake the desk I was sitting at. The other person in the room didn't even feel it.

I live in San Jose. None of my employees has even mentioned the earthquake. No one is talking about it. It was a non-event. Come on out and see the Bay Area. Best climate in the US and great place to live!
