Worth doing San Fran in January

Any comments on going to San Francisco in mid January?

We love the arts & fine dining. My biggest concern is the weather.

Arts and fine dining are about 99% indoors in SF so you should be OK in mid January.

Weather will most likely be cold and rainy in January. High temps will most likely be in the low to mid 50's during the day and down to the upper 30's at night. With the wind chill it will feel somewhat colder than that.

Weather in SF in mid January is a coin toss. Some years it has been very wet, some years it has not. We are supposed to have a El Nino winter this year, but so far the weather has been spectacular (It is 70 degrees today). Basically you take your chances--may be you will luck out and it will be mild and sunny.
