I did say that the weather would be seasonal.... that, unfortunately, does not mean the 60's like it has been, but cold, sunny weather is nice here in NY.

Here's the forecast from Wunderground:

Friday
Light rain or drizzle likely early in the morning along with some fog...then remaining cloudy with showers becoming likely in the afternoon...possibly a thunderstorm. Milder but breezy. Highs in the lower 60s. Southwest wind increasing to 15 to 20 mph...gusting to 30 mph. Chance of rain 60 percent.
Friday Night
Mostly clear and blustery. Lows in the lower 30s. West wind around 20 mph...gusting to 30 mph...becoming northwest.
Saturday
Sunny and blustery. Highs in the upper 30s.
Saturday Night
Clear. Lows in the mid 20s.
Sunday
Partly sunny. Highs in the upper 30s.
Sunday Night
Cloudy with a chance of snow. Lows in the upper 20s. Chance of snow 40 percent.

Throw on a heavy sweater and have fun!

So far, so good.

Hey Robert, you weren't buying food from that felafel guy on the corner of Mad & 55, were you?

Robert Jan 31st, 2002 12:16 PM

actually I never go to those trucks but why do you mention?

Robert Jan 31st, 2002 12:18 PM

There is a lot going on I think. There are police all over just in case. It is unlikely you'll get caught in a melee and hurt; it is very likely that you will get delayed or detoured.

I'd make plans that allowed me to walk or take the subway, I'd have zero dependence on taxis if I were you, this kind of stuff just jams up traffic.

This am for 1st time in my life my (very lazy person's) 8 block cab ride to work had to take a detour because Union Square was blocked off.

I think the protestors must be in a bit of a bind because this year causing trouble to NY's uniformed personnel is, like, not cool at all.

Last night on the local news in NYC,they said that
"In Seattle, the police dept has 3,000 officers. In NYC,there are 4,000 officers at the WEF alone..so that should give you an idea of how safe the city should be.

I was just out at lunch saw some protesters marching behind a small band. They looked harmless and there are so many police officers per city block nothing is going down. I also think who would attact this city after what we have been through.

Last attacks were led by disaffected youth not life long activist in march.

I had a meeting midtown today (Mad @ 40th) and then walked up to Rock Center for lunch. Nothing unusual anywhere, except more NYPD than usual.

I did see a hilarious guy with an anti-protest sign. It read: "Get a life and a job, you losers!!"

So true, so true.
