Woody Allen at the Carlyle Hotel, jazz band
Apparently Woody Allen plays at the Carlyle Hotel during the fall, on Monday nights, with a jazz band.
Has anyone seen him live and would you repeat the experience? Thanks. |
No, but it was a fave of ours when George Feyer played!!

Check the prices. I've been to Cafe Carlyle many times for many other performers but I'm not a dixieland fan so would not consider going for that given the eye watering cost.

I saw him at few times when he played at a venue in midtown east, also on Mondays if I recall. Good as he may be, as mentioned above, he plays mostly Dixieland jazz which is not one of my favorite genres. I would rather see a vocalist, but I think it is a matter of personal preference.

Thank you!

When he played Seattle a few months ago he was a member of a seven-man New Orleans Jazz Band. The reviews were favorable, and he told one joke: "If I don't get eight hours of sleep, I look my age."
I didn't see the show. HTtY |
I have done and enjoyed. I knew the music was Dixieland and had a good time. It's an intimate venue with no bad seats. We ordered a bottle of wine that complied with the minimum Would do it again.

Have not seen him there. Did at Clarke's many years ago - but that was practically free and across the street from where I worked.
Carlyle is a whole different price range and atmosphere. |

Saw him many years ago-pre Soon-Yi. He arrived early w/ 3 women. One may have been Soon-Yi. Didnt know much about her then. They sat at a table- he with a poker-face. Waiting. No smile no frown. (Cant remember the name of the place.) Finally his gig started and his group at the time was very good. He was the sort leader of the group. They were great. He was great. I read some time ago that he was the world's greatest practitioner of his particular type of clarinet. He kept that poker face during the whole gig. When it was over he was outta there.

The midtown east venue was Michael's Pub where he played on Monday nights for at least 25 years.

Yes. Yes. Michael's Pub.

Thank you again everyone. We will take this into consideration then...
