Wondering about Cell Phone Reception in Monmouth, ME

I'm working at a camp this summer in Monmouth, ME, and am wondering if my Sprint phone will work. I'm from Minnesota and have never been to the New England area, so I am unsure what to expect. If it does not work, are there prepaid phones that I could get that would work in that area? What other providers work in that area?

Thanks so much!

Do you have ANY contacts with either people who have worked THERE in the past or with the people who interviewed and selected you for the psoition?

If so, do you suspect any of THEM might have some cellphone experience from when they were there?

Up to you but I'd be much more comfortable with answers from folks who have BEEN there.

No, I don't really know anyone there enough to ask a question like that. I don't want to come across as the type who NEEDS my cell phone & will be on it the whole time- since I won't be, but will have time off each day and would like to keep in contact with my family.

Does anyone live in this area who could provide some insight?

In nearby Winthrop my Sprint phone fades in and out and asks me if I want to try and connect with another service with roaming charges. Monmouth is probably even a little more hit-or-miss, with pockets of coverage in town and probably no coverage at the camp.

If you look at the coverage map on the Sprint website, you can see that they have very little service in Maine. I've heard that Verizon and US Cellular have the best coverage in the Monmouth are.... ATT, Sprint and Tmobile the worst.

I have Verizon and found their maps to be pretty accurate especially if you got down to street level. I'm pretty sure we called home from Livermore, ME which is just north of Monmouth. The coverage map shows coverage in Monmouth, ME. Other service providers might differ.
