With Airlines failing, would you fly Airtrans?

Opinions?

Jed Jun 14th, 2008 05:24 AM

As long as it doesn't fail in the middle of a flight, I would do it. ((*))

J62 Jun 14th, 2008 05:44 AM

As long as there aren't oxygen bottles in the hold I would not be concerned.

I've flown AirTran many times; it's totally fine, very friendly staff.

Well since I've flown AirTran many times my question to you would be "Would you fly Continental, US Airways, American Air, or even JetBlue?"

So - what are you saying?

Judyrem Jun 15th, 2008 05:13 AM

Airtran is one of the best, and it's prices are reasonable. I do not even try Delta anymore for good fares. Jetblue is my fave,,Airtan second fave.

When are you buying tickets for? If it's for many months away, nobody except Southwest is safe.

For intermediate bookings, I'd stay away from Spirit and probably Frontier.

Airtran is fine financially.

But many airlines will be cutting routes and flights for the fall. Some have announced the cuts, some has not.

I love AirTran.

I say this from a review of the financials. AAI is a public company which now has a market cap of only a quarter of its debt. Thus Wall street negatively vlaues the business model. Granted Majors arent much better, but there is more capital and good will offered to Majors.

Frank, for Gods sake, use that WSJ to wrap the fish, and just get on the damned plane...let someone else do all the analysis...life's too short for you not to enjoy it.

Outside of having the most uncomfortable seats on an airplane, I thought they were fine.

Myer Jun 19th, 2008 06:45 AM

I've flown AirTran a few times and they were fine.

I don't remember uncomfortable seats or anything negative.

starrs Jun 19th, 2008 08:54 AM

Their fleet is newer and nicer than the (formerly prominent) competitor flying out of Atlanta. I don't get the "uncomfortable seat" comment either.

Greatsights Jun 19th, 2008 09:14 AM

I found their seats to be very comfortable. But then it could be due to the age of the airplane or the size of the seat occupant.

As to Air Tran they're fine to me most every plane I've flown on with them has been fairly new.

starrs Jun 19th, 2008 09:23 AM

Here are the fleet "ages" for US airlines.
AirTran has newer planes than most of the airlines.

To clarify my comment on seat comfort, their seats are hard. They have very thin layers of fabric with very little cushion.

Their planes are clean, seem new and legroom was fine.
