Wisconsin Rustic Lodge?
Any Fodorites know of a rustic (but still nice) lodge on a lake in Wisconsin closer to Chicago. I'm thinking of a place similar to those found in the Adirondacks. Thanks in advance.

Just topping, as I too would like to know of such a place.
Stuff closer to Chicago is usually not too rustic, ie, in the Lake Geneva area, Lake Lawn Lodge is nice, but not really rustic. For rustic you need to go further north, say up around Minocqua, Manitowish Waters, Green Bay, about 6 hours drive. Coon's, on Trout Lake near Minocqua, used to be rustic in the classic mode: a lodge to take your meals in, cottages with screened porches, sailing, tennis, etc. Ross's Teal Lake Lodge is in the same area, also very nice but in my opinion overpriced.

Steve,
I suggest that you look in the area of Lake Geneva (about equidistant from Madison, Milwaukee, and Chicago). It's a beautiful lake in a beautiful area (towns to look for are Lake Geneva and Williams Bay). Sorry, I don't know of specific lodges, but Lake Geneva (the town) is tourist oriented, and I'm sure the Chamber of Commerce could help.

Don't know about Wisconsin, but if you are looking for something close to Chicago, i woulds suggest several lodges in the southwest Michigan area. Approximately 150 miles from chicago and right on Lake Michigan you will find the communities of Saugatuck, Holland, Fennville, and South Haven Michigan whih have great B&Bs (what we prefer), inns, lodges, and even camping. Can't suggest specific acomodations as we stay in the B&Bs but we have seen many lodge types there and it is a great area.
