Winter Wine Tasting in Napa Valley
Hi all! I'm in California at the moment and I went to Napa Valley for some wine tasting. It was great to be there in the winter, as the crowds are really low and it is much easier to get a table at some of the famous restaurants than it is during other times of the year. The weather was beautiful, too. If you get a chance to visit in the winter, I highly recommend it.
I wrote about my trip and posted photos on my blog if you are interested in taking a look: http://www.aladyinlondon.com/2013/03...er-travel.html Happy Travels! |

We went one winter (in late Decemeber) and it is easier to get restaurant reservations, with the exception of the French Laundry which is the one place we really wanted to experience. They are traditionally closed during the winter for several weeks.
|
That's true. I think the French Laundry is pretty difficult to get into at any time of year. The other restaurants in the area tend to be easier in the winter, though.
|
Much easier. We were there, like I mentioned, in late Dec thru early January. It was darker and we had lots of cooler weather and some beautiful days with just a few rainy days. But we were practically the only people on the roads. The experience was wonderful. I've heard in high season it can be unbearably croweded and hot, so it was perfect for us.

That's great. It's true that in the summer it can be really crowded and very hot. I much prefer Napa in the winter. The Sonoma Valley doesn't get as crowded in the summer, so I usually go there during the high season.
