WInter vacation in Southern CA?

Trying to plan a stateside beach vacation mid-December. If not, beach, then at at least a semblance of balmy. Where is it reliably warm? La Jolla/San Diego? Or should we stick with Florida? All comments welcome!

Hello, Virginia4,
Mid-December is NOT balmy at all in Socal. I live in LA and it's jacket weather and could very well rain in December. Palm Springs, in the desert, would be lovely during the day, but cool at night.Of course, that would be a poolside vacation, not a beachside vacation.

My uncle, who lives in Florida, USED to visit us in December and he always wore his leather coat. He decided to stay in Florida after a few visits.

Hope that helps...

While So. Cal could be warm in mid-December, there is nothing reliable about the weather that time of year. Sometimes it can be warm and mild (but not balmy), other times it can be rainy and cold. I think you need to stick with Florida.

And that goes for Palm Springs, too - unless you like sitting by the pool in 70 degree temps. 70 is the average high for December and January.
