Any ideas for me? Traveling with 9 and 11 year old boys and active parents and grandparents. Hear Grand Lake Lodge is worth a trip. thanks!

Do you mean you're staying at Snow Mountain Ranch, YMCA of the Rockies? It's really beautiful there. Plus, there's lots to do-- horseback riding, hiking, biking, indoor rock climbing wall, indoor rollerskating rink, a crafts shop for kids to make projects, etc.
The alpine slide will be open at Winter Park, which is fun for 9 and 11 year olds. Also Pole Creek golf course is right next to Snow Mountain Ranch. It's won some design awards. Try pizza at Hernando's in Winter Park--- best pizza anywhere!
Also, Grand Lake is beautiful. You can rent motorboats at Lake Granby, and it's a blast for a half-day outing on the lakes. Then go to Grand Lake Lodge for dinner, and sit on the veranda overlooking the lake. It's a traditional old log lodge, that grandparents especially might enjoy, with a big fireplace and a great gift shop.
Or get Mexican food at Pancho and Lefty's in Grand Lake. You'll have lots to do.

P.S. I just noted your screen name and wanted to add that there are two or three free outdoor tennis courts at Snow Mountain Ranch also.

Snow Mountain Lodge is great. Are you getting a cabin? My boys are close in age to yours and at this point they might be a bit disappointed in the mini-golf and indoor skating rink, which are a bit dated (or at least were a few years ago). Just don't build up those activities and they should be fine. We were up there several years ago during the Perseid meteor shower in August. It was completely amazing.

Your kids will love the Alpine Slide in Winter Park. Winter Park resort recently e-mailed me information on the Winter Park Four Pass. It is $74 for four people and includes unlimited use of the alpine slide and other activities. We spent an entire day at Winter Park last summer doing the slide, mini-golf and maze. We had to drag our kids out of there. They sell the pass at Front Range King Soopers and you can call 970-726-1564 for more info.

great, thanks, yes we are in a three bedroom cabin...do you think the food is good? The restaurant or the cafe? Or should we plan on cooking in the cabin :( yuk! we will do the pass for four, ready to get out of this texa 106 degree heat!

No, I did not think the food was good at SMR. Unfortunately, you may want/need to do a little cooking in your cabin. I brought paper plates/utensils so I was at least able to avoid doing dishes.

The food is better at the grill than at the cafeteria. Not stellar, but fine for burgers, chicken tenders, etc.

We spent some time at Snow Mountain Ranch. The food in the buffet line was absolutely horrible! We ended up going to the grocery store and cooking our own meals in the cabin.

Our 3-bedroom cabin, by the way, was VERY dated. It had the original paneled walls and weird colored carpet. It was pretty "rustic."

Also, transportation within the community was a problem. The cabins were quite a ways away from the central activity areas.

Despite all that, as long as your expectations aren't too high, you should have a nice time. There are lots of scheduled activities for the guests. But, as I recall, most cost extra. I remember leaving feeling as if we had been nickel and dimed to death.
