Wineries Open on and Before Thanksgiving ? and Must see Wineries
My wife and I are headed for a nice 5 night stay in Sonoma week of Thanksgiving. We are bring our 2 year old daughter with us. Will there be any wineries open on Thanksgiving ? Any wineries in the area that shouldn't miss ? Any that outright refuse kids? Thanks for any help in advance.

Most wineries are closed on Thanksgiving Day in the Napa and Sonoma area, but all will be open the days before and after. I'm not aware of any that ban kids, but be sure to keep your two-year-old in check, as there will be lots of breakables within reach. Are you staying in the town of Sonoma or in a town in Sonoma County?

Staying near MacArthur Street Sonoma, California 95476

Just outside the town of Sonoma, Buena Vista and Ravenswood. Also Gundlach Bundschu, Rche and Nicholson Ranch are near. Between Sonoma and Napa on Route 12 are 2 places worth a stop, Aretsa and Domaine Carneous, a sparkling wine producer. Both sit on hilltops with great views.
None that I know of will be open on Turkey Day. |
Since not much is open on Thanksgiving day you could always take the kids to Safari West. Currently there is room for 4 on 2 trucks leaving at 9 am. You'd need to secure a seat in order to take the 2 hour safari or call to find out about availability on other tours:

A must see winery with its buildings designed by Hundertwasser would be Quixote. But it can only be visited on a reservation basis.
