Wineries near Seattle?
I hear there are some lovely wineries within day-tripping distance of Seattle. Any recommendations?

Chateau Ste. Michelle and Columbia are "next door" to each other in Woodinville, but I have only driven past, never stopped. As I recall, it's about 40 min. from the waterfont in Seattle...

St. Michelle also has outdoor music events sometimes, you might check on that.

Just a note, Chateau Ste. Michelle was also voted Winery of the Year for 2004 by Wine Enthusiast. I would love to tour this place, it looks beautiful from the pictures I've seen. Cheers! ***kim*** ((f))

Good advice from E and Suze. We used to ride bikes past them when we lived there, but did not stop in. Bikes and wine don't mix real well, lol! BTW, the old head winemaker for Chateau Ste. Michelle branched out and started his own winery (Januik) and has some excellent wines.

Also in Woodinville is the Herbfarm restaurant--very pricey, very long, very elaborate dinners, and opinions vary as to whether it's worth the cost, but you might enjoy it. I posted a long review a year or two ago, which you should be able to find by searching "herbafrm" and Washington state.

Note that the notable wineries near Seattle are not where the grapes are grown.
