Wineries in Monterrey, CA
Will be in Monterrey and Carmel CA at the end of July 2020. Any suggestion for great wineries would be appreciated. Thanks

Do you want to visit an actual working winery? If so, those are in the Salinas Valley about 45 minutes to an hour drive from the Monterey Peninsula. Some are only open on weekends so check their hours before you make the drive out there https://riverroadwinetrail.com/
Otherwise, downtown Carmel and Carmel Valley Village (20-30 minutes from the peninsula) have the most tasting rooms at 20+ each, most within walking distance to each other. Monterey is starting to have more and more tasting rooms as well, some downtown and some near the waterfront. What kind of wines do you like? Pinot Noir and Chardonnay are the grapes that are grown here predominantly but you can find other varietals. Most producers are on the smaller, boutique side. |

Definitely would like to drive to beautiful working winery with country view great wines and tasting room. As we did in South Africa. Do u have a favorite winery? I saw one called Harmon? Ranch will have to check name looks wonderful will need to read reviews and call to se if it’s worth the drive. Thanks again |

Check out Hahn in the Salinas Valley. They have a tasting room onsite with a patio overlooking their vineyards. They have live music on summer Sundays. They also offer tours if you reserve in advance https://www.hahnwines.com/visittastingroom/tours/
Another place out in the same area is Wrath. They have excellent pinots Wrath Wines - Visit I've heard good things about Chalone but haven't been out there myself, mostly because it's way out there almost to West Pinnacles but if you're coming/going that way, it may be worth a detour https://www.chalonevineyard.com/Visi...alone-Vineyard If you mean Holman Ranch, they have a tasting room in downtown Carmel. Their estate is located in Carmel Valley just east of the village so about 30 minutes from Monterey. It's not open to the public except on a pre-booked tour so I would contact them to see what they currently offer. We've stayed on the property a couple times and it's beautiful https://www.holmanranch.com/visit-us/#vw One more place mid-valley that you may like for atmosphere is Folktale. They're only 15-20 minutes drive from Monterey. I'm not a huge fan of their wines but the place is beautiful and they have live music and fun events. They also have a kitchen and the food is pretty good so it's a nice spot for lunch https://folktalewinery.com/visit/ A different direction you could possibly head is the Corralitos area of Santa Cruz county which is about an hour north of Monterey. Windy Oaks has a tasting room in downtown Carmel but their estate is in Corralitos. I haven't been up there but there are a few wineries in the area.
