Wine Tasting in Carmel Valley?

We will be in Carmel for a wedding next weekend and another couple we are traveling with is interested in visiting some wineries. Is this worthwhile? Any suggestions?

There are more than a couple places to taste wine in Carmel Valley. Start out at Chateau Julian (www.chateaujulian.com ) on Carmel Valley Road and pick up a wine magazine with a map and list of wineries. Bernardus is another nice one. Take a look here:

It is definitely worth it, the wineries are much smaller and more personal than others in CA. While wine tasting there, please take a stop for a glass of wine at the beautiful Georis garden if weather is cooperating. I love this laid back and beautiful place, always make a stop here.

I'm with you on the Georis tasting room garden ag123 -- always a treat. Last month we enjoyed a couple of their Tasting Flights and a beautiful large cheese and fruit plate in the gazebo.

Note: the wine flights come with a small complimentary cheese plate, but the large one is a meal for two and has to be ordered off the menu--well worth it.

Chateau Julien is very nice as is Bernardus. Check out the Bernardus Lodge, Wickets is very good for lunch in Carmel Valley. Cheers! ***kim*** ((f))
