Wine Country Accomodations?`

Any recommendations for wine country B&B's, Inn's...etc? How far is the drive from the nearest major airport? Any other info would be appreciated as well!

Thanks!

R,

It would help if you would identify which wine country you're asking about. I'm assuming that you mean California, but Napa, Sonoma or somewhere else?

Any area - Napa, Sonoma... it doesn't matter. I am very open. We would just like a fun, pretty place to visit for a long weekend. Thanks for your help!

Pull up Fodor's hosted forum archive on California Wine Country. There is more info and possibilities there than you can imagine! I planned a Spring trip there last Easter -- pulled up Sonoma County's website and on recommendation of a friend who lives in Sacramento, stayed in Healdsburg. This was in the Russian River area, and really lovely. We stayed at the Camillia Inn which was delightful. You can get there easily from San Francisco or Sacramento. The drive from SF can be part of the adventure if you head over to Stinson Beach and drive up the coast for a while.

We also stayed in Healdsburg several years and it is very charming. Has a pretty town square and good restaurants. We stayed at Madrona Manor--pricey, but about the only room left when we arrived on a Sunday evening in the summer. Sonoma wine country is less hectic than Napa and is famous for its Zinfandels, which are a fabulously tasty red wine.
