Windsor Park Hotel in DC

Has anyone stayed there? It seems too cheap to be true....

I stayed there a few years ago so I'll try to recall. The rooms are average size. The bathrooms are small. Nothing is particularly nice at all, but it was OK in the clean department. The neighborhood is very nice. You're perched on a ledge of Rock Creek Park at the foot of the bridge that spans the park (the Louie Armstrong Bridge, I believe). Across the bridge is a nice residential neighborhood -- Adams Morgan maybe? There are some terrific restaurants there. And the Metro makes a stop there.

What I recall was that it was cheap, shabby, OK for the money -- but I don't think I'd recommend it. Not that you shouldn't stay there -- I just wouldn't recommend it. Most people would be happy with the price but not particularly happy with the accomodations.

At the time, I needed cheap and safe and convenient. It is all those.

I live in DC and have never heard of the place, it must be low profile. I guess it's more a B&B than a hotel. It is a nice neighborhood. Adams Morgan doesn't have a metro stop, I imagine Tandoori Girl is just referring to the Woodley Park area of DC across the bridge. There are quite a few good small restaurants near the Woodley Park metro stop there. It's somewhat a walk to either metro stop (Woodley Park or Dupont Circle).

Thanks, Christina -- it is Woodley Park across the bridge, not Adams Morgan.

No, it's not a B&B, very definitely a hotel. It has a front desk, rooms are all separate, no living area. If you can afford the next cheapest hotel, hlessa, it will most likely be substantially better for the minimal cost of your upgrade. If you can't, then you can enjoy the neighborhood and pretend you're staying at the Mayflower.
