Wilma - Cancun trip cancelled
 

Any suggestions on alternate plans now that Hurricane Wilma wiped away our annual trip to Cancun for next week? I am racking my brain trying to come up with something else and am not having any luck.

Where do you live and do you have insurance, refund money, etc?

well, that's the issue, isn't it -- where you can go quickly and easily. You could go to the western coast of Mexico instead, obviously (Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cabo, etc), but the beaches and some things aren't exactly the same. SO, some place in the Caribbean might be more like it and there are certainly tons of those (eg, St Croix). I don't remember hearing about a lot of storm damage on Caribbean islands except Cuba, Haiti and Dom Republic.

One more thought- I just purchased a great package at luxurylink.com It was estimated at 1100 and I got it for 500! You might consider a last minute purchase at a really luxury resort somewhere close to home, or somewhere where you can get a cheap, last-minute flight. www.luxurylink.com
