Willows Lodge in Woodinville/Wineries
In Seattle for 4 days in August. Was thinking of combining a couple of days in the city with a couple of days at Willows Lodge outside of Seattle. Wanted to combine spa w/ winery tours, Redhook Brewery and possible hot air ballooning. Any feedback on Willows Lodge or the winery scene outside of Seattle?

Although I only live 10 minutes from Willows Lodge, I've never been there or to any of the wineries. However, I'm topping this for you so that it doesn't get lost in the shuffle. Once all of the Seattle people wake up and log on, I'm sure you'll get lots of help.

Ballooning is pretty iffy due to winds and mountains, but go for it if you can.
The winery scene in Woodinville is pleasant enough, but of course minimal grapes are grown locally; the vinyard areas are mainly in Eastern Washington (Yakima and Columbia Valleys).
Haven't been to the lodge, but it's a Preferred Hotels member, usually a pretty reliable alliance.

Check out cityofseattle.net and you will come up with lots of information.
I live near Woodinville and sometimes bike over to some of the wineries--Chateau Ste. Michelle and Columbia. Chateau Ste. Michelle has concerts in the summer--you might want to check out their website at ste-michelle.com.
I also have heard good things about Willows Lodge, but haven't checked it out myself. Anyone?

We have gone to the Willows Lodge Spa, which is REALLY nice. I've walked around the Lodge, and the grounds and appointments are first-rate. If I ever needed to stay anywhere near Woodinville, this would be the place, but I live a few miles to the north, so I can't imagine when I ever would.
A bit on the pricey side too!

The Willow Lodge is "in my daughter's words...Awesome". I've only eaten there and enjoyed it. The Herb Farm restaurant is an experience but reservations are a must as they are usually sold out for months. There should be a concert at St. Michelle which can be enjoyed with a box lunch. Rent a chair and sit on the grass! Re Hook's deck is usually crowded but the Hops in bloom are sweet to smell and the beer is good. Walk across the brige over the Sammamish Slough and watch the Salmon swim to the Lake. Balooning is fun and worthwhile my friends tell me. Also...there are a few more Wineries that don't get mentioned but in a few days you should stick to your choices. August is terrific. Enjoy.
