Will I be able to use American Airlines voucher to fly to Hawaii (Kauai or Maui) in September- what are the blackout dates? Looking for help from AA Frequent Fliers!

Hello, My company is having an auction that benefits charity. One of the items up for auction is two round trip tickets good for travel anywhere in the US including Hawaii.

I want to use these tickets to fly from Boston to either Kauai or Maui leaving Sept 1 and returning Sept 14.

The vouchers say on them "blackout dates may apply and travel is not valid on AA codeshare flights". I assume that redeeming these vouchers is akin to using FF Miles to book a flight. So, will I be able to use these tickets on these dats?

Will blackouts apply? Will I not be able to fly on weekends?

I am an AA Frequent Flier, but their website requires passwords - and in order to get a password you need an email on file, which requires me to call AA (ain't gonna happen!).

I hope that some helpful AA Frequent flier members can help me out!

I could get a GREAT deal to Hawaii and also help charity.

Thanks!!!

Boston surely must be the non-profit charity auction capital of the world! :)

I don't understand why you have to call AA re email to access their website. I signed up online without a problem. Plus I would think with a question like this you would go right to the source, instead of depending on this board. I know AA's phone line is really annoying, but at least you'd get a right answer.

Alan, I strongly suspect that there's just one such auction.

Vouchers aren't like using ff miles. There are no AA blackout dates in early Sept., anyway.

Thanks for the responses. The problem with calling AA is that I don't have the acutal voucher (I'd need to bid on and win it) so I can't talk "specifics" with the booking agent. Anyway I think that I'll have to go "straight to the source" as suggested - but I really don't like wasting time on hold.

From some of the responses it sounds like there aren't blackout dates in early September.

Regarding the number of auctions in Boston - people from my company have bought and donated a bunch of nice gifts - these gifts are then auctioned off to the employees and all of the $$$ goes to charity. It's a one time deal, has nothing to do with Boston, simply my company.

Dear b,

but I really don't like wasting time on hold.

Then why are you wasting your time and everybody else's with this stupid question?

FF

I used to work for AA. Hawaii the most popular destination for AA frequent fliers to redeem their miles. Seats can fill up very fast depending on the time of the year. You really need to call American Airlines and speak with perhaps Promotions. Reservations will not know what type of fare etc.. that you are holding. There also may be a number for you to call on the tickets specifically. Promotions comes to mind first because they handle the Citibank Aadvantage points etc... I hope that this helps. Usually blackouts will be for major holidays. Anyway pick up the phone and call them as I know that seats go.
PS Codeshare is where AA sells the flight but the flight is actually operated by another carrier.
B,

I am also an American Airlines frequent flier and as a previous poster has stated, there should be no problem with blackout dates in September. The only problem you may encounter, depending on which days of the week you are traveling, is finding a flight which is not sold out.

FF -

Does your name stand for F*ck Face? Because you certainly act that way.

Thanks everyone who guided me in the correct direction.

and b? Does the "b" stand for bitch? Certainly sounds like it! Seems you have the time to be online but I guess that is ok because you are probably at work "pretending" to be working!
