Will Delta go out of Business?

Today's newspaper was full of Delta woes, with reports of 1500 flight attendant layoffs and executives claiming they "can't make it much longer with their money problems." How much of this is hogwash and how much is real? I have an awful lot of Delta Sky Miles and I'd hate to not use them!

My guess: 20% pure hogwash, 70% bluster to get employee concessions, 10% real long-term viability problems. In the short term, they do of course really have some issues.

Yes. As will all the other airlines. Soon all we will have to complain about is how to get free upgrades on Greyhound.

What do you mean, Greyhound. It'll be stagecoach miles!

It is not likely that Delta will go out of business. They and other major airlines may be facing bankruptcy at some point, but that's not necessarily a death sentence. Remember that Continental has gone through and emerged from bankruptcy in the past.

Actually Delta is in a better financial situation than the others(outside of Southwest). If Delta went under-then there would not be much left of anything.Definitely trying to get some more employee concessions!

Postal:

They are doing the same as what USAirways has done lately in Pittsburgh. Cry about loss of money and then give CEO and Board of Directors multi-million dollar bonuses.

Another 'the sky is falling' posting about major airlines going under. So why don't you get a sky miles flight NOW?
