If you like Asian fusion, Japaengo (I may have misspelled it)next to the Hyatt is really good sushi and fish...

I did Pamplemouse for Restaurant Week in June, and it was fantastic with a choice to do wine-pairing. I mentioned in another thread to just be sure to check your leftover container to avoid a mixup!

If you are in La Jolla you are not far from a popular local restaurant in Mission Beach, The Mission. Follow Mission Boulevard south and keep watch for it on the left, or just call or mapquest it. It is open for breakfast and lunch. You will be amazed at the quality and the value. Few tourists, many locals, wonderful food, happy wait staff, better than fair prices.

these are my family's favorite restaurants in La Jolla. Bird Rock Area = Beaumont's and Lupe's both on La Jolla Blvd. We also love coffee at Bird Rock Roosters. Downtown La Jolla = El Pescadore (on Pearl) for casual lunches, Panikin Coffee (Girard St)for breakfast, Zenbu for Japanese, George's at the Cove (the upstairs part), Alphonso's for Mexican. We also love the La Jolla Shores area and our favorite restaurant there is Piatti's (someone told me they have received a Zagat rating this year). |
