Wilkes-Barre, PA

We are going to visit a relative in Wilkes-Barre, PA on Sunday from NJ.

Any points of interest in Wilkes-Barre or on the way?

You will be driving thru the Poconos.
Wilkes-Barre is in Luzerne County and Scranton is in Carbon County.
There is Steamtown National Historical Sight in Scranton.
Minor league (AAA) Baseball in Scranton.
Google for attractions in either county or the Poconos.
Plenty to see and do.

Scranton is in Lackawanna County. There is a coal mining museum which is supposed to be pretty interesting.

Oops, I was thinking of Jim Thorpe which is Carbon county.
The great gorge of the Lehigh River is there which is graet hiking and biking trail thru the gorge.

What part of NJ are you coming from? That will determine where it makes sense to stop.

There is too much in terms of sightseeing. If you are coming from the north and think you might be interested in the coal mine tour, I've included a website below.

Are you just going to visit for the day?
