Wild Dunes with teens in June

Hi all,
was wondering what it would be like at the
Wild Dunes Resort in late June this year...my teens like golf and the beach.
Some of the reviews say to be careful where
you rent at the resort. Is the hotel better or the villas? (I am aiming for an ocean view if it is available.) The kids also love
to play in the sand...is it the kind of beach that you would build sand castles on?
Also, what is the weather like around
June 20-30? I was in Charleston about 10 years ago in August...is June as steamy as August?

Thanks much,

You can build sand castles. We have been to WD twice, and rented a condo each time. I have not stayed in the hotel building so I can't compare for you. The weather should be very nice.

We were there 4 years ago and stayed in a very nice condo. I don't recall the name of the building but it was 5 stories, right on the ocean, with a red roof. The beach is great and there was also an oceanfront pool. Can't comment on the weather in June.

June will be very hot, very humid, and very sticky. No different from May, July, August, and September.

I don't think Wild Dunes has any 'bad' condos. Definitely rent a condo instead of a hotel room.

When my kids were teenagers we rented a villa or condo at Wild Dunes for several years in a row. Had a great time. Very good beach, terrific golf and my sons and I built all kinds of sand castles and sand sculptures.

Weather in late June should be fairly hot and humid.

Fairly hot and humid? LOL!

I was also wondering about critters
in the area...in Michigan we have black
fly season in late June. It can be very
irritating to be outside. Is there any
thing similar in Charleston. Are there
bugs that get you while you're building
sand castles?
Thanks much,

For the most part the ocean breeze keeps bugs and those of the flying variety off the beach.

The most annoying thing is the sand that gets everywhere. Trunk of my car, my house, my shower, carport, laundry room, litter box.....
