Wild Dunes Reservation
Hi all,
I tried to book a few days at Wild Dunes June 21-25. Reservations told me they were completely booked until June 26. I was wondering how such a hugh resort could be completely booked for almost a week. I ended up reserving June 26-July 2. Should I give them a few days to recover from the busy week or will they be able to recoup within a day? Thanks much. |
Let's see. Hmmn. It is peak season at a very popular summer resort. So do you think because it is the Easter holiday the reservations people are too stupid to take your reservation for June? Resorts start to get completely booked by late February. |
Something about a big group coming in
they said...I just wonder what the place will be like the day after they leave ... is the staff quick to recover? When we used to travel to the Keys we always heard "yes, it is hard to get good help way down here." Some resorts were a mess by the end of the tourist season. So it's nice to know what you'll be walking into, and maybe try to avoid if possible. Wild Dunes seems to get great reviews... so I'm assuming they are really good at what they do. Thanks for all the input GoTravel... someone mentioned your lengthy review of Charleston somewhere on this website...but I can't find it...can you point me in the right direction? Thanks so much. |
auty, here is the link--> http://www.fodors.com/forums/pgMessa...vel+Charleston Big groups are usually gone by that time of year and it is mostly families. Wild Dunes is wonderful and I'm sure you will have a fantastic time. |
There are other nice places in that area like Kiawah and Sullivan's Island.

Thanks all....and thanks for the link
Go Travel...your report was too funny... Is anyone familiar with the Marriot Reniassance in the Historic District? Am thinking of staying in Charleston for the first few days. Is it a place for two teenage boys? Appreciate all your help, Auty1 |
Would your teen boys enjoy the historical aspect? The temps can get pretty stifling that time of year downtown. I remember two years ago being down there on a trip from Folly and we made the mistake going downtown mid-day and just died in the heat and humidity. Found ourselves oozing from shaded spot to air conditioned store with frequent stops for cold water and ice cream - uggh - at least at the beach there is a breeze!
