Widow and mom

Does anyone have an idea where a widowed mom of 2 kids (in their early 20's) can get away on father's day weekend with the kids in the mid-atlantic area? obviously don't want to go anywhere where the holiday is being celebrated.

If you can provide some more info, I am sure folks can make suggestions.

Will you fly or drive? From where? How far do you want to go?
What is your budget for hotel? Do you need 1 room or 2?
Exactly how many days - go Friday and return Sunday? etc
What kind of activities do you all like to do?
What is your budget for food and other activities?
Where have your gone before and do you want water, mountains, city or what?

Father's Day isn't a really big, publicly visible holiday for most families. Maybe a baseball game, or something like that, but mostly it is a home based holiday and I can't imagine it will be "in your face" anywhere you go. I am guessing this may be the first one with dad, and you are wanting to take their mind off that, so give us more info and we can suggest things for you to research.

Weather should be nice enough for the beach, so that may be an option. Lots of great cities for sight-seeing in the mid-Atlantic too, such as NYC, Philly, Baltimore, or DC, if any of those appeal to you.

You don't have to stay at the Inn at Perry Cabin to enjoy St Michaels. There are a number of less expensive choices, but I agree that it is a nice place to get away to, and there is a lot of relatively low key stuff to see and do in the surrounding area, Easton, Oxford, Tilghmans Island, etc. You could fly into BWI and rent a car.

If you want an urban experience, that is a good time usually to come to Boston. It is likely to be decent weather for the city and for a side trip to Cape Ann.
