Why is it so hard to find hotels with QU beds instead of DBL?

My husband is also tall and we really hate anything smaller than a King - even a queen is pretty crowded for us. We have pretty much limited our stays to hotels that have a lot of King beds and will do a Queen only if absolutely necessary. Hard to believe how we get used to something over the years and can't go back. That's us for sure!!

Jcorrea, I'm curious, do you put a teenage boy and girl together in a double bed? i know my family is spoiled, but even my two teenaged daughters have trouble sleeping in a double bed together. One kicks in her sleep and likes to have her legs exposed to the air with the covers mounded up near her waist.
Now that she's gone to college, the remaining teen son and daughter won't sleep in the same bed and i wouldn't expect them to. Luckily, we're able to afford two rooms, so that's what we do.
I think part of the problem is if you have a lot of room and privacy at home, it's hard to get used to the togetherness on vacation and get any sleep. since it is a vacation, i would rather stay at a cheaper hotel and pay for two rooms if that's a possibility.

My god,I'm sure jcorrea does not put teenagers together in a bed.
If the kids are younger, they can share a bed. If they are teenagers, they get their own room.
Things are real interesting at this website now, we are discussing and analyzing hotel beds and the useful differences between a king and a queen bed. What a joke!
Bucky wrote it best, you guys are all spoiled when the size of a bed is a problem.

H and I don't do well on a double either. Last summer stayed with at my brother's home in the spare room with a double. It was SO cramped that I ended up on the sofa.
Did find a hotel in NYC that has all queen beds - The Gorham. It was great. However, they are currently closed for renovations.

Yes, gojacks, we are spoiled. If I am paying $300 plus for a few nights stay in a beautiful Marriott on vacation, with a teenage boy and girl, and the mom and dad, silly me, I would like a good night's sleep. I find that Qu beds are no problem. Maybe we are just getting old, but a good nights sleep is like money in the bank these days.
We have found that Best Westerns often offer queen beds. Many of the more expensive hotels do not. I sure wish I was in the league that could afford two rooms every time the four of us want to travel together, but at hotel prices nowadays, it isn't really practical, IMO.
Just wondering if the rest of you were wondering about how to manage a family of four comfortably in two double beds. Now, about those pillows...

FYI and an addition to my earlier post--if we're stuck in a room with 2 doubles, the guys (both over 6 ft. tall)take one bed and we girls (short) take the other. How dumb is that but my kids have reached the age where sharing a hotel bed seems a little odd plus they end up fighting over covers, pillows, etc. We're going on a cruise in June and ended up getting two rooms--kids in one (technically an adult is in each room) and DH and I in another. They'll each have a single bed, we'll have a queen and EVERYONE'S happy! We all agreed that a week together in one room would be just way too much togetherness
