why does everyone hate Pigeon Forge?
 

I am going to remain anon for now, as I am sure to get a lot of negative remarks given the posts I have seen on this area!!<BR><BR>my parents have gone back 2 times now, love the Smoky Mountains, go to Biltmore, whatever else is scenic in that area.<BR><BR>I never asked them WHY they like it so much, but they've never mentioned that the sprawl kills them. (which is surprising cuz usually they cannot stand traffic and all that).<BR><BR>they've actually bought a time share which works all over the US as well as Europe, on their last visit there. I am supposing they are going to head back there at some point using that time share. They were actually considering buying a vacation home in the general area (Smoky Mts). I think they'll go to Florida for that though.<BR><BR>tell me what is good about this area? why do so many people hate it so?<BR><BR>thanks...

Because it is tacky, tacky, tacky.

The Smokies are a place of incredible natural beauty.<BR><BR>Pigeon Forge is a place of horrendous consumerism, tackiness, and indulgence.<BR><BR>Pigeon Forge looks like a $5 whore in a photo of a bride with her bridesmaids.

Ihate the way people talk in pigeon forge!

What is Pigeon Forge????

It is much like Branson. Either you love it or hate it. I think most Fodors folks choose the latter although I admit that I have never been to either.
