Why Bellagio?

I will be making my first trip to Las Vegas in early May. I will be arriving on Monday afternoon and staying until Wednesday morning. I have reservations at the Bellagio for the two nights. But as I think about it I wonder if it is worth the extra money to stay there ($210 a night). I figure most of my time will be consumed by trying to see all that I can while I am there. I do intend on seeing a show and going out for a nice dinner while I am there. But I doubt I will have very little time to use what the hotel has to offer. I doubt that I will take time to use the swimming pools, the spa or probably most of the things that people stay there for. So basically I am just using it for a room to sleep in. Does this sound like I am wasting my money? I would really like to stay in this area of the strip. Would I do better staying at one of the places that I could get for a third of the price?

If you don't plan to spend much time in the hotel, or more importantly at the pool, then I would recommend staying at a cheaper hotel. Something still nice, like Treasure Island or Mirage, but you'll be able to stay there for $79 a night or less during the week. The hotels are nice, rooms are nice, they are right in the middle of the strip (walking distance to Bellagio to see the fountains) and you'll have a great time.

You've answered your own question.
Try Paris, or even Aladdin.

Spend the $210 a night on something better than just a bed. There is so much to see and do you'll never be in your room. I really like the location of Bally's, Flamingo or Harrah's. Have a great time. T-43 days till our trip.

No way should you spend that much money for a room - you won't spend that much time in it! I've stayed in the Monte Carlo (which I love) at midweek for $49 per night but don't know if that's still available.

Ditto to all the responses above. $210.00 is too much for a room in Las Vegas. There are lots of casinos with nice rooms. The Monte Carlo is nice and they have a fun pool area.

$79.00 should get you on the strip and you'll spend most of your time having fun outside of your room.

phx

Lots of hotels in the $100 range that are nice. You will need the extra money for cab fare, those hotels are not as close as they seem..even if they are right next door to each other!!

Bellagio is a beautiful, well run hotel that also has a casino. The attention to detail is beyond compare. It is a great choice if you are going to take advantage of all it has to offer but if you just need a room I would save your money and stay somewhere else.
