I am looking at some off time from my job. I need to go really cheap that is why I picked Waikiki. I know to look in the travel section of the NYTimes but I was wondering if anyone knows places on line that are equally CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP!!! As long at the place is safe and clean. Will visit friends on the North Shore and will really just use this place as a bed that is central to public transport.

You don't mention the time of year or budget. If the main requirement is to be on the BUS route, I suspect there's cheaper places than Waikiki, however if you're looking at tour packages then of course choices are more limited. Check the major airlines' vacation packages, frequently. Look at www.vrbo.com .Don't your friends know local places to stay ?
