Whitewater Rafting - Beginner Suggestions

Greetings. Coming to Colorado next week and will be visiting Estes Park, Vail, Aspen areas, with stops in between. Looking for recommendations on the best place to go whitewater rafting as a true beginner? And estimated cost per person?

No matter where you go, book the Class II or III section of the river. Don't book the Class 4 section. If you follow that advice, you'll be fine.

Great, thanks for the tip.

Go Class III - Class IV will be too scary and Class II is practically floating, not really "whitewater". We took 5 and 7- year olds on a Class III trip and they were fine.

The bigger problem is that the white water rafting is over. You can find a float trip but any type of w water is done.

We went down the Arkansas? river was it - out of Vail - and while they tried to trump up the rapids as being class III or IV- (this was in the summer) - it was more like a float trip - less than Class II. :) Juast be sure to tell the company/guides what type of raft trip you are looking for.

Later I went river rafting in Costa Rica - now there were some rapids.

Thank you for all the replies. Sounds like its going to be raft trip, which I sure will be still fun not as dangerous though. :)
