White Christmas-settle argument
 

Silly argument going on in my house....

OK, does "White Christmas" mean there is snow on the ground for Christmas Day or does it mean there is actual snowfall on Christmas Day.

I may be wrong, but as soon as I saw this I immediately thought "Houston." I don't know if you are anywhere in the Houston area, but I had numerous friends and family who had snow on Christmas Eve as well as snow on the ground Christmas morning in Houston for the first time in recorded history. That was a definitely a "White Christmas" for the record books.

IMO, if there is snow on the ground on Christmas day, and it is white, then it is a White Christmas...whether it's falling or not. But, JMO.

LOL, we got into this discussion tonight for several reasons. First we just moved from Hawaii to DC and today's snowfall was big excitement for us. AND we just returned to DC from a long trip and I am embarrassed to say we have still have our Christmas tree up, so I lighted it today as the snow was falling! (No Christmas music, tho.)

Statia -- my brother and his family live in Lake Jackson. We all spent this past Christmas vacationing together in Laguna Beach, so they missed the white Christmas. But from the pictures I saw, they had more snow on Christmas morning than we've had on any recent Christmas I can recall in Chicago.

I think both are right. If snow is already on the ground, you have a "White Christmas." Yet, if snow falls on Christmas day at any time and the ground is white, it becomes a "White Christmas." Enjoy your tree and turn on the music!

It's a great place, BUT my dream has always been to live in Hawaii, if only for a year-just to have experienced it. What was it like living there?

ms_go, I know where you are coming from. My sister was home for the Houston White Christmas, however my mom was farther north in the Conroe area and missed the snow at her house. :(

Actual snowfall Christmas Eve with sparkling blue skies and snow covered trees for Christmas Day....dontcha know the sleigh does better with a little snow in the air!!!!!!!!
