which washington dc marriott hotels?
 

I will be in washington dc in august.Im looking for a marriott-jw marriott-or renaissance hotel with a pool.I was told to be by the blue/orange line cause I will be going to rfk stadium for some baseball games?

I haven't been to either hotel, but I just wanted to make a comment about the metro advice for Nats games. True, Stadium/Armory stop is on the blue and orange line (either line will get you there), but don't let that be THE reason you choose a hotel. It's very easy to change lines (and it doesn't require another ticket) in order to get to your destination. Here's a system map:

The stations marked with double circles are where you can change lines. For ex, if you stayed in Dupont on the red line, you would ride the train to Metro Center then get on an orange or blue train to RFK.

Go for the JW or the Marriott Metro Center. Both have pools. I think -- but am not sure -- that the JW's is bigger.

Both are close to the Metro Center subway stop where you can catch the blue and orange lines.

The Marriott MC is less than half a block to the station, while the JW is about a block and a half.

The JW is very nice. I'd pick it. Last time in DC, I stayed at the Marriott Wardman Park. Tad inconvenient locationwise but nice area overall.

Jflan - I'd echo what beanweb said - don't let the metro color line determine your stay but you may want to count the # of stops between your hotel and RFK to see which will be the longest trip. We just stayed at Residence Inn in Old Town Alexandria(blue/yellow) and it only took about 15-20 min to get into the district (Metro Ctr) on yellow line. This is a nice property convenient to metro and Old Town.

Of course if you've got good hotels in the heart of downtown and right on the Metro line you want, then why not?

It's not like the OP was looking for a spot ``convenient to NY Ave'' ... if you want convenience to RFK, nice hotels and a nice area, these Marriotts fit the bill.

We've used both for out-of-town visitors to our offices. From our former office, we could literally see the JW guest rooms (kind of wierd) and the Marriott MC is now directly across from our new place. Both are fine and have plenty of other activities nearby, including great access to the Mall and monuments. Two other Marriott props -- a Renaissance and a Courtyard are a bit farther, but are both manageable walks (about 3-4 blocks) to Metro Center.

Loew's L'enfant Plaza has a pool and is on top of the blue/orange line. Close to Air & Space and Mall on the non-downtown side. You may get a good deal there, but little ambiance as it is in the middle of office buildings, but quite nice.
